Mom and her baby in the ruins of their home after Hurricane Matthew

Following the catastrophic damage caused by Hurricane Matthew in October 2016, the Cercle de l’Espoir – Dunia (CED) association was solicited to respond to an absolute emergency: residents of the town of Les Cayes (southwest of Haiti ) realized that the roof of their houses were literally gone. Whole families found themselves on the evening of the hurricane in very precarious living conditions, and in total material and psychological deprivation.

Relief, more or less coordinated by Haitian associations and international NGOs, has focused on large cities and towns that are easily accessible. This was not the case in Les Cayes.

Contacted by a well-known association in Haiti, the Cercle de l’Espoir – Dunia (CED) association contributed quickly by sending a financial donation allowing the local coordinator to help the residents buy plate for 10 families in the community to repair the roofs of their houses.

These families thank the Cercle de l’Espoir – Dunia (CED) association for giving them hope thanks to this contribution.

A mission is being prepared in the medium term, which aims to better structure a nascent collaboration between the Cercle de l’Espoir – Dunia (CED) association, the local partners and several communities of women on the spot, very active in the reconstruction of their country.
